6ft Shipping Container for Sale in stock at a Swaans Containers depot

6ft Shipping Container for Sale

The 6ft box is the smallest welded steel unit we stock, small enough to crane into a back garden or rooftop plant room yet built from the same 2mm corrugated Corten panels as a full ISO box. It ships flat on a pickup, needs no crane at most sites and locks down to a concrete pad with four corner brackets.

€1,100 €1,650

approx. $1,200$1,800 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Popular with landscapers, allotment societies, marina berth holders and homeowners who need lockable storage where a 20ft box simply will not fit.

8ft Shipping Container for Sale in stock at a Swaans Containers depot

8ft Shipping Container for Sale

At eight feet long the container reaches the sweet spot between portability and usable floor area, giving roughly 10 cubic metres behind a full-width cargo door. Marine ply flooring, forklift pockets and standard corner castings mean it can be craned, tilted or forked into position in minutes.

€1,200 €1,800

approx. $1,300$1,950 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Chosen by tool hire depots, sports clubs, event organisers and small trades who move their store between jobs several times a year.

Navy 9ft Shipping Container for Sale with a yellow storage For Sale banner

9ft Shipping Container for Sale

A rarer intermediate length produced mainly by cutting and re-ending 20ft stock, the 9ft unit suits customers who have measured their access gate and found ten feet too long. Each one we sell is re-welded, seam sealed and repainted so the shortened end is indistinguishable from factory work.

€1,250 €1,950

approx. $1,350$2,150 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Specified by urban contractors, mews workshops and heritage sites where planning or access constraints dictate an exact footprint.

Dark blue used 10ft Shipping Container for Sale with cargo doors closed

10ft Shipping Container for Sale

The 10ft container is the most popular compact size worldwide, offering 16 cubic metres of secure space with the same stacking strength as a 40ft box. Full-height double doors, cargo-grade plywood flooring and lock box protection come as standard on every unit.

€1,300 €2,000

approx. $1,400$2,200 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Widely bought by construction sites, schools, farms and self-storage operators who need a genuinely secure store that still fits a single parking bay.

20ft High Cube Shipping Container for Sale

Identical in plan to a standard 20ft but a foot taller at 9ft 6in external height, this unit adds roughly four cubic metres of usable volume without changing the transport footprint. The extra headroom matters as soon as you add insulation, racking or a suspended ceiling.

€2,150 €3,300

approx. $2,350$3,600 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Preferred for conversion projects, workshop use, tall palletised goods and any application where two metres of clear internal head height is not enough.

Blue 24ft Shipping Container for Sale, custom size dry van with one door open

24ft Shipping Container for Sale

A fabricated length created by extending or shortening ISO stock, the 24ft container answers the common problem of needing more than 20ft but not the full 40ft turning circle. All welds are continuous, ground flush and coated in a two-pack marine primer and topcoat.

€2,250 €3,450

approx. $2,450$3,750 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Used by yards, transport operators and site managers who are constrained by an access road or hardstanding that will not accept a 40ft delivery vehicle.

Blue 30ft Shipping Container for Sale with a wind and water tight For Sale banner

30ft Shipping Container for Sale

The 30ft box is a purpose-fabricated length that carries around 50 cubic metres yet still fits many yards that cannot manoeuvre a 40ft trailer. We build them from single-trip donor units so the floor, doors and paintwork are effectively new.

40ft Shipping Container for Sale

45ft High Cube Shipping Container for Sale

45ft Shipping Container for Sale

At 45 feet the container carries around 85 cubic metres while still using standard ISO corner castings at both the 40ft and 45ft positions, allowing it to be handled by conventional equipment. Reinforced rails compensate for the extra unsupported span.

€3,450 €5,300

approx. $3,750$5,800 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Chosen by European road-sea intermodal operators and shippers of light, bulky cargo who are constrained by volume rather than weight.

48ft Shipping Container for Sale

The 48ft container is a North American domestic size, wider and longer than ISO stock and designed for rail and road interchange rather than deep-sea service. Aluminium or steel construction keeps tare weight low for inland haulage economics.

€3,600 €5,500

Used almost exclusively by domestic US and Canadian freight operators, and by buyers repurposing large-footprint units into workshops or storage.

The default recommendation for anyone insulating, lining or racking a container, and for shippers whose cargo cubes out before it weighs out.

Mid Cube Shipping Container for Sale in stock at a Swaans Containers depot

Mid Cube Shipping Container for Sale

€2,000 €3,000

approx. $2,200$3,250 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Pallet Wide Shipping Container for Sale in stock at a Swaans Containers depot

Pallet Wide Shipping Container for Sale

Pallet wide equipment is engineered around the 1200x800mm Euro pallet, carrying 30 pallets in a 45ft unit against 27 in an ISO box. Internal width is increased by recessing the side corrugation and slimming the wall section.

approx. $1,950$3,000 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Standard equipment for European short-sea and rail intermodal operators optimising cost per pallet rather than cost per box.

Super High Cube Shipping Container for Sale in stock at a Swaans Containers depot

€2,850 €4,350

approx. $3,100$4,750 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Ordered for plant enclosures, tall equipment shipments and bespoke architectural projects that need clear internal height above 2.7 metres.

Wide Body Shipping Container for Sale in stock at a Swaans Containers depot

Wide Body Shipping Container for Sale

Wide body containers add internal width beyond the ISO 2.35m so that two standard Euro pallets fit side by side without shoring. The frame retains standard corner casting positions so handling equipment is unaffected.

€1,950 €2,950

approx. $2,150$3,200 · ex-depot, excl. VAT and delivery

Chosen by European distributors and pallet networks who lose significant capacity to the standard container's width restriction.

Buying Standard Shipping Containers for Sale from Swaans Containers

Swaans Containers B.V. supplies standard shipping containers for sale to buyers in more than sixty countries. Our standard dry containers stock covers corrosion-resistant Corten steel dry boxes built to ISO 668 and ISO 1496-1, the universal workhorse of global freight and site storage, and every unit is inspected, graded and photographed before it is offered for sale. Whether you need a single box delivered to a yard next week or a fleet of units staged at a port for an export programme, you are dealing with a trading desk that owns the equipment rather than a broker passing on someone else's list.

There are 23 specifications in this range, and choosing between them is usually a question of how the unit will be loaded, what the cargo weighs and where it has to go. We publish the full technical detail for each one so you can compare dimensions, payload and certification side by side, and our sales engineers will tell you plainly when a cheaper or simpler specification will do the same job. That advice costs nothing and it is the reason most of our customers come back.

Condition is the other decision. New one-trip units have completed a single laden voyage from the factory and are effectively unused: clean paint, tight seals, no repairs, and a full service life ahead of them. Cargo-worthy used units hold valid CSC certification and can still travel internationally, but they carry the surface rust and plate repairs of working equipment. Wind-and-watertight units are structurally sound and dry but are sold for static use. We grade honestly, and we send photographs of the actual unit rather than a stock image, so nothing arrives as a surprise.

Pricing is quoted fully landed. That means the container, the transport, the lift and the paperwork in one figure, with no release fees or handling charges appearing later. Because we buy from shipping lines, leasing companies and manufacturers directly, and because we hold stock in multiple regions, the unit you order is sourced from the depot closest to your delivery address. On a single container that difference is often several hundred euros; across a fleet order it is substantial.

Freight forwarders, importers, exporters, contractors and private buyers form the core of the customer base for this range, but the equipment is genuinely versatile and we regularly supply buyers who have found a use we had not seen before. If your application is unusual, describe it and we will engineer a specification around it. Our own workshops handle cutting, welding, insulation, lining, electrical fit-out, painting and branding, so a modified unit leaves as a finished product rather than as a shell you have to find a fabricator for.

Delivery is arranged worldwide by road, rail and sea. Within Europe most stock units reach site within three to ten working days on a tilt-bed or HIAB vehicle. For overseas orders we book ocean space, handle export documentation and can deliver to your nominated port or door. Site requirements are simple but not negotiable: firm level ground under each corner casting, clear approach space of roughly twice the container length, and no overhead cables. Where access is tight we arrange crane offload or a transfer point nearby.

After the sale we remain the point of contact. Spare parts, door gear, gaskets, locking bars, refrigeration components and repair services are all available, and units bought from us can be traded back or resold through our network when your requirement changes. That matters more than it sounds: a container is an asset with a genuine second-hand market, and buying from a supplier who will also buy it back protects your position.

To move forward, send us the specification you think you need, the delivery address or port, and the date you need it on site. If you are not sure which unit fits, send the cargo dimensions and weight instead. You will get a written quotation with the fully landed price, the condition grades available, the certification supplied and a realistic delivery date, normally within one working day.

Standard Shipping Containers for Sale — buying guide

Read this before ordering standard shipping containers for sale — it covers grade, certification, site access and delivery so the unit you buy suits the job.

New vs used

New or one-trip units have made a single laden voyage from the factory and are visually near-perfect, with clean paint, tight seals and a full service life ahead. They cost more but need no remedial work and photograph well for customer-facing installations. Used stock is graded as cargo-worthy or wind-and-watertight. Cargo-worthy units carry valid CSC certification and can still be shipped internationally; wind-and-watertight units are structurally sound and dry but are sold for static use. Surface rust and repairs are normal at this grade and are documented before purchase.

Delivery requirements

Most units are delivered by tilt-bed or HIAB vehicle. You need firm, level ground, roughly twice the container length of clear approach space, and no overhead cables. Where access is restricted we arrange crane offload or split delivery to a nearby transfer point.

Site preparation

Place the container on a firm base such as concrete pads, railway sleepers or compacted hardcore under each corner casting. A level base is essential: a twisted frame makes the doors bind and voids most weathertight expectations.

Customisation options

Common modifications include personnel doors, windows, insulation, lining, electrics, shelving, ventilation, extra vents, partitions, ramps, security shutters and bespoke paint schemes. Specify these at order stage so the work is completed before delivery.

Maintenance

Maintenance is straightforward: keep door hinges and locking bars greased, clear roof debris, treat surface rust as it appears, and check the floor and door seals annually. Well-maintained steel containers routinely give twenty-five years of service.

Standard Shipping Containers for Sale — questions

The questions buyers ask most often about standard shipping containers for sale. Select a question to read the answer.

Which standard dry containers should I buy?

+

Start with how the unit will be loaded and what the cargo weighs, then match that to the door aperture, internal dimensions and payload figures on each product page. If two options look close, the deciding factor is usually site access. Send us the details and we will recommend a specification in writing.

Standard Shipping Containers for Sale: Do you sell single units or only fleets?

+

Both. We supply single containers to private buyers and small businesses on exactly the same terms as fleet orders, and we hold enough stock to fill multi-unit programmes for logistics operators and contractors.

Standard Shipping Containers for Sale: Are used units safe to ship cargo in?

+

Used units graded cargo-worthy carry a valid CSC safety approval plate and are certified for international carriage. Wind-and-watertight units are sold for static use only. We state the grade clearly on every quotation.

Standard Shipping Containers for Sale: Can you paint the units in our colours?

+

Yes. We apply two-pack marine paint schemes and vinyl branding at our own works before dispatch, which is cheaper and better finished than doing it on site.

Standard Shipping Containers for Sale: How do I arrange delivery to a difficult site?

+

Tell us about the access when you enquire — gate widths, overhead cables, ground surface and turning space. We will specify tilt-bed, HIAB or crane offload accordingly, or arrange a transfer at a nearby yard.

Standard Shipping Containers for Sale: Do you buy containers back?

+

We regularly buy back units we have supplied and take trade-ins against new purchases. Send photographs and the serial number and we will make an offer.

Standard Shipping Containers for Sale: What documentation comes with the container?

+

Certified units come with the CSC plate details, serial number, manufacture year and our inspection report. Export orders include the commercial paperwork required for customs clearance.

Standard Shipping Containers for Sale: How quickly can you quote?

+

Most quotations are issued within one working day. Complex modified builds may take two to three days while the workshop confirms the specification and schedule.
